Charles Dickens: 

Born in the year 1812, Charles Dickens was a great English writer and a social critic. In the 20th century, he was recognised as the literary genius due to his amazing works. Even today people enjoy reading about his short stories and novels. Some of his notable works are Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, Nicholas Nickleby, Great Expectations, The Pickwick Papers, David Copperfield, Little Dorrit, and A Tale of Two Cities.  

William Shakespeare:

Born in the year 1564, William Shakespeare was an amazing English poet, actor and a play writer. His existing works, including collaborations consist of 154 sonnets, 39 plays, long narrative poems, and verses some of the uncertain authorship. He was also good with words and invented many of the words that are used today. His most notable works include Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Julius Caesar, The Winter’s Tale, Macbeth and The Tempest. 

F. Scott Fitzgerald: 

Born in the year 1896, Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was a fiction writer from America whose works have helped in serving an example to the flamboyance and excess of the Jazz Age. He is regarded as one of the greatest 20th-century writers. His most notable works include The Beautiful and Damned, This Side of Paradise, Tender is the Night and The Great Gatsby. His unfinished fifth novel named The Last Tycoon was published posthumously.   

George Orwell: 

Born in the year 1903, Eric Arthur Blair, widely recognised by his pen name George Orwell was a famous English novelist, journalist, essayist and a critic. His work featured lucid prose, opposition to totalitarianism, awareness of social injustice and support of democratic socialism. His most notable works include Animal Farm, Homage to Catalonia, Nineteen Eighty-Four, Down and Out in Paris and London, The Road to Wigan Pier. 

Rudyard Kipling: 

Born in the years 1865, Rudyard Kipling was a popular English journalist, poet, short story writer and novelist. He was born in India reason why most of his works were inspired by this country. Most of his notable works include The Jungle Book, The Man Who Would Be King, Kim, Gunga Din, The Gods of the Copybook Headings and The White Man’s Burden.  

Sidney Sheldon:


Born in the year 1917, Sidney Sheldon was a great American writer and a producer. He began his writing musicals for the stage of Broadway while he continued writing screenplays for both Paramount Pictures and  MGM Studios. His most notable works include Master of the Game, Rage of Angels and The Other Side of Midnight, The Doomsday Conspiracy and The Naked Face.
